Video: Can Our Partners Change?

This video is beneficial in challenging the expectations we often have for our partners. We usually believe they must not love us enough to make even “simple changes” we want. We must understand they don’t experience relationships and connections like we do. And we also need to get better at recognizing our own blind spots. From our perspective, we usually do a decent job of loving—much better than they are! But the truth is we ALL struggle with intimacy and connection in our own, unique way.

I do want to add, though, that we can begin to shift our behaviors. We can learn to love better. The best relationships and marriages are built by two people who both acknowledge they’re flawed, admit to sometimes disappointing each other, recognize that they’ll get it wrong more often than they want, but consistently send this message: “Let’s figure out this love thing together.”
