Making Another First Impression
Inspired by a true event…
Three months into trying again after an affair, they agreed to go on their first real “date night.” To keep things simple, they decided to treat it like a blind date. No rehashing. No talking about therapy. Just dinner and curiosity.
They even showed up separately, meeting at the door of the restaurant.
“Hi, I’m—” he started, but she interrupted.
“Oh no,” she said. “I read your profile. You’re the one with trust issues and terrible texting habits.”
He smirked. “And you must be the emotionally complex one with a strong coffee addiction.”
“Guilty.”
The waiter came by, confused by the banter. “You two just meeting for the first time?”
They looked at each other.
“Sort of,” she said. “It’s a second first impression.”
They didn’t fix everything that night. But they flirted. They laughed. And when they walked to their cars and he asked if he could see her again, she said yes.
